Live Mixtape at Ace Hotel NYC 2/4

prestige-ace-hotel-feb-4th
From the Ace Hotel NYC site:

“DJ Prestige is a fine purveyor of funk, soul, jazz, hip hop, reggae and other assorted funky treats. When not preserving and promoting quality vinyl records, he is working like a mad scientist to make the perfect cup of coffee at home. He brings his version of the live mix tape to the lobby of Ace Hotel, where funky jazz, deep funk, raw soul, classic hip hop, real reggae, disco tracks, and drum breaks of all kinds make you move and groove like the park jams back in the day. It’s all about the vibe.”

DJ Prestige x Ace Hotel NYC

Fridays in March, DJ Prestige takes up a monthly residency at the Ace Hotel lobby in NYC.  Here’s what the Ace had to say about him:

“DJ Prestige runs FleaMarketFunk.com, where he rescues forgotten funk, soul, jazz, reggae & hip hop records while promoting the sounds of independent artists making the same type of music today. His eclectic sets in the Lobby will take you back, back into time and into the future. On his Friday night live mix tape, expect lots of original samples, soundtrack cuts, hard hitting drum breaks, and other funky classics. Bring an open mind.”

Check out more info on the night here.

NOV Lobby Nights 15The time goes so quick and November creeps up on you. This month, once again FleaMarket Funk is featured in the lobby of the Ace Hotel New York City every Friday in November. We will be bringing an arsenal of funky treats for your listening pleasure on these nights from 8pm until 2am. You see, the Ace is our home away from home and every time we visit, they encourage us to dig deeper and deeper. Sonaturally, we oblige. As we approach our sixth year at the Ace, we’ve come a long way from spinning 45s for Tanner Goods pop up and then for Q Tip’s residency in Liberty Hall. Fast forward and we’ve hosted special guests like Supreme La Rock, and seen everyone from the Chicago Bulls Joakim Noah to Skrillex nodding their heads to what we are laying down. However, the night isn’t possible without the crowds that come out on the regular when we play the Ace, and for that we want to say a huge thanks. For the residency, we did a live warm up mix that dropped last week, and for those who haven’t heard it yet, here is is again:

We’ve done quite a few mixes for our residencies over the years, which can be found here. Here are a few if you’ve missed them:

This month, the Ace has also curated some really talented DJs who will be spinning the rest of the week, so if you’re in the area the rest of the week, by all means stop in.
