DJ Prestige x Transmission Jersey City

Transmission-10-29This Thursday we’re starting a new chapter here in Jersey City as we bring the Flea Market Funk vibe to some place new. Club Transmission, a new vibe spot here in JC will host us for a night of funky stuff. We’ll be spinning variety of raw funk and soul, real reggae, quality hip hop, greasy jazz, and all kinds of drum breaks from 9PM until 2AM. The event itself is FREE, so if you’re in the area, please stop by and say hello. We’re trying to get a DJ scene that supports this kind of positivity through quality music and people.

Transmission is a 5000 square foot bar, lounge and performance space. We reside in the historic A&P Warehouse, overlooking the cobble–stone intersection at Bay and Provost Streets. We offer an eclectic program encompassing different genres of live music, dance parties, cabaret. This is our house party. You are invited.

A TV Free environment, Transmission hosts diverse types of music for your listening and dancing pleasure. For this night, we’re taking a ride. This ride begins with the originators, jazz music that gave way to funk and soul, original samples that will be represented in their first form and the songs that sampled them as well. You will find library tracks along side original rock drum breaks, golden age hip hop along side deep soul tracks, real sounds from Jamaica along side the funky drummer and jazzy beats. It’s a vibe. It’s a sound. It’s place. Transmission is where it goes down. Hope to see a few JC heads out.

Where Does The Sun Go At Night? A Deep Jazz Mix

Where Does The Sun Go At NightWhen we are not spinning funky stuff, we listen to jazz records. All kinds of jazz records. For a long time though, we’ve been really into deeper jazz cuts. A mix between spiritual jazz, free jazz, and stuff that we would like to classify as “out there”. There is something special about the music, the players, the back story of each artist and the songs they play. It’s been a while since we did a straight up jazz mix, so we combined mostly early 70’s experimental stuff with one cut from a guy who embodies the same mind state as these cats in the present day. To us, there is nothing better than a song that takes you off to another place, another time, or another astral plane. it removes you from your present state and allows you to listen. Here are a dozen deep jazz cuts for your listening pleasure. Sometimes funky, sometimes free, these tunes were meant to be listened to and heard. So if you can hear what we’re saying, let us know. The mix is 100% vinyl and done all live and in one take. Please enjoy and pass to a friend if you dig what you hear.
